Selon l'ex-libris au f. 1 : "Ex legato bone memorie deffunti magistri Petri de Brena quondam doctoris in decretis.", ce manuscrit a appartenu à Pierre de Brenne (mort en 1446), décrétiste de l'Université de Paris (cf. L. Delisle, II, p. 219 ; Laurent Tournier, "Notices biographiques des ambassadeurs, porte-parole et députés de l'université de Paris au XVe siècle", p. 44.)Il en fit don à la bibliothèque de l'Abbaye de Saint-Victor de Paris dont l'ex-libris et le blason figurent également au premier feuillet.Le manuscrit est entré dans les collections de la Bibliothèque nationale après les saisies révolutionnaires en 1796..
