La première partie du Paris. gr. 2761 est attribuée à un certain Jean qui est nommé dans la souscription du f. 78v : ἐτελειώθη τὸ παρὸν βιβλίον διὰ χειρός μου Ἰωάννου τοῦ καὶ γραμματικοῦ. Cette souscription est en partie répétée au f. 79r.Ce manuscrit provient du don qu’Antoine Éparque, gentilhomme d’origine corfiote, fit à François Ier en 1540, par l’intermédiaire de Guillaume Pélicier. C’est ce qu’indique l’ex libris au f. 1v : Κτῆμα ἀντωνίου τοῦ ἐπάρχου, ὃ δέδωκε τῷ κραταιῷ βασιλεῖ κελτῶν.
