Le manuscrit a été produit en Normandie, comme il résulte d’après l’écriture et le style décoratif ; il a appartenu à Louis Chaduc (1564-1638), conseiller au Présidiat de Riom (cf. les ex-libris au f. 266v, « Chaduc 1598 », et au f. IIIv, « ex-bibliotheca… » suivi de ses sigles et la date «1600 ») et ensuite à Jean-Baptiste Colbert (1619-1683) (cf. cote ancienne au f. 1r, « Cod. Colb. 2774 »). Le volume entra à la Bibliothèque Royale en 1732 (cf. cote « Regius 3706.5 » au f. 1r), avec d’autres manuscrits colbertins.
