Les f. 28-233 ont été copié entre la première moitié du Xe siècle (f. 30r-168v) et le XIe siècle (additions pour combler des lacunes, f. 28v-29v et 169r-233v). Les ff. 2-27, datant de la fin du Xe siècle ou du début du XIe, proviennent de l’abbaye d’Echternach ; le f. 1 a été probablement ajouté peu après. Le volume est le n° 81 des manuscrits envoyés à Paris par Maugerard en octobre 1802 (cf. B.n.F., département des Manuscrits, Archives Modernes 497).Au f. 1v, ex-libris gratté, « Codex sancti Wil[brordi] », mention du contenu (XVe siècle) et cote ancienne, « [R.] 3 » ; mention du contenu (XVIe siècle), « Contient Hamelarium Treverensem episcopum de officiis ecclesiasticis » et cote ancienne grattée « E.4 ».
