  • Résumé : CCCC MS 33, dating to the late twelfth or early thirteenth century, is a manuscript containing the Gospels of Mark and John, with extensive marginal commentary and glossing. At the end of the manuscript is a copy, with commentary, of William de Montibus' (d.1213) poem beginning Poeniteas cito. M. R. James suggested that the manuscript may originate from St Albans, but Neil Ker rejected this provenance. The hand is very fine, and the manuscript contains some attractive illuminated historiated and ornamental initials.
