Le manuscrit a été produit probablement au Nord-Est de la France ; il dérive, plus ou moins directement, du Latin 5730. Le volume a appartenu à Jean-Baptiste Colbert (cf. cote ancienne au f. 1r, « Cod. Colb. 902 ») et il entra dans la Bibliothèque Royale en 1732 (cf. cote au f. 1r, « Regius 4732.6 »), avec d’autres manuscrits colbertins.
