Ce manuscrit a fait partie de la bibliothèque des rois aragonais de Naples. Il a été saisi par Charles VIII et conservé ensuite dans la Librairie royale de Blois ; il est signalé dans le catalogue de 1544 : "Ung autre livre en papier à la main intitullé « Boecyo de consolationne » couvert de cuir tanné" (Omont n° 1674) puis dans le catalogue de la Bibliothèque du roi à Paris à la fin du XVIe s. : "Boece de la consolation de philosophie" (Omont n° 2717).
