Manuscrit très probablement produit à Saint-Aubin d’Angers pour l’abbaye de Saint-Nicolas d’Angers : cf. au f. 232v, sur la marge supérieure, ex-libris (XIVe siècle) : « Cest livre est de l’abaie de Saint Nicholas. Qui l’emblera perdu sera ». ; cf. aussi au f. 1r, « […] Andeg. » (XVIIe siècle). La dernière unité codicologique (f. 256-263), contenant la translation de saint Nicolas, pourrait avoir été ajoutée à l’abbaye de Saint-Nicolas. Le volume a appartenu à Claude Ménard (1574-1652), prévôt d’Angers (cf. Charles La Cointe, Annales Ecclesiastici Francorum, III, Paris, 1668, p. 586), et ensuite à Antoine Vyon d’Hérouval (†1689) (f. 1r, XVIIe siècle, « ex dono A. … Wion d’Herouval » ; cf. Delisle, Cabinet des manuscrits, II, p. 45), qui l’a offert à la bibliothèque de l'abbaye de Saint-Germain-des-Prés (cf. au f. 1r l’ex-libris « Sancti Germani a Pratis » et les cotes anciennes, « olim 812 » et « N. 1044 ») ; il entra à la Bibliothèque Nationale entre décembre 1795 et février 1796, avec d’autres manuscrits de Saint-Germain.
