Le manuscrit a appartenu à l’abbaye Saint-Paul de Besançon (cf. l’ex-libris au f. 49r, « Pertinet ecclesie Sancti Pauli Bis. » (XVe siècle) ; il a fait partie de la bibliothèque de la famille Bouhier (C 99 dans le catalogue II, puis D 56 dans le catalogue III). Cette collection fut achetée par l’abbé de Clairvaux François Le Blois en 1781 et fut vite dispersée : une grande partie (environ 180 volumes), réunie par Chardon de la Rochette, fut acquise par la Bibliothèque Nationale en 1799.Le f. 1, garde moderne, porte le titre en capitales rouges et les cotes précédentes : « Bouh. N° 129 » (au crayon), « Codex MS Bibliothecae Buherianae D 56 MDCCXXI ».
