Un possesseur antérieur au Cardinal Mazarin a acheté ce manuscrit peu après sa copie, comme en témoigne la note ajoutée en haut du f. 1 : Emptus duci uno die X. decembris 1543, Romae. Ce manuscrit descend en ligne directe du Laur. Plut. 86, 29, ancêtre commun à toute la tradition conservée de ce texte (Vinel). En l’absence d’identification de cet acheteur et de traces d’éventuels possesseurs intermédiaires, nous ne pouvons retracer par quelles voies ce manuscrit finit par arriver dans la bibliothèque du cardinal.A la mort du cardinal en 1661, sa bibliothèque est léguée au Collège Des Quatre-Nations, mais ce manuscrit fait partie du lot de 229 manuscrits grecs qu’en 1668 Colbert fit échanger entre la bibliothèque du Collège et celle du Roi. Notre codex correspond à l’entrée 1476 du catalogue des ouvrages de Mazarin passés à la bibliothèque royale établi par Carcavy (NAF 5763 f. 215r, voir Omont).
