Ce témoin est le deuxième tome d’un commentaire à l’Iliade d’Eustathe copié par Georgios Alexandrou, le premier tome étant le Paris. gr. 2693. Apographe du Laurentianus 59.3, le Paris. gr. 2694 a servi de modèle au Paris. gr. 2701. Le manuscrit a fait partie de la bibliothèque du cardinal Ridolfi, où il portait la cote 38 parmi les manuscrits de contenu grammatical. La notice de Matthieu Devaris se trouve au centre du f. [I]. Après la disparition du cardinal, les manuscrits de sa bibliothèque sont transmis à Pierre Strozzi puis à la reine Catherine de Médicis. Sa bibliothèque est intégrée dans la Bibliothèque royale, après l’achat de Henri IV, en 1599.
