Description(s) : Résumé: In historisch opzicht is deze collectie een onmisbare bron voor de kennis van het religieuze en liturgische leven in de Sint-Baafskerk en van haar verleden als abdijkerk. De bijzondere artistieke waarde van de collectie ligt in de eerste plaats in de talrijke gezangen voor lokale heiligen die in andere bronnen niet voorkomen, en die vaak nog niet in de standaardrepertoria zijn opgenomen. Zo bevat ze een schat aan origineel eenstemmig liturgisch repertoire. De collectie heeft een belangrijke schakelfunctie omdat ze het ontstaan en de verspreiding van de vroege polyfonie in de Lage Landen (meerstemmig Credo en Gloria) documenteert. Door haar ouderdom, en door haar samenhang met de oudste liturgische en gregoriaanse bronnen is deze collectie van onmiskenbaar belang als getuige, zowel van de ontwikkeling van het gregoriaanse repertoire, en de Karolingische liturgie, als van de ontwikkeling en verspreiding ervan op Europese schaal.Unité(s) textuelle(s): Passio et inventio S.
