Ce manuscrit a été réalisé pour Francesco di Bartholomeo de Petrucci da Siena, comme en atteste le colophon au f. 248. Il a par la suite appartenu à un cardinal dont les armes ont été grattées au f. 1r (elles sont déportées partiellement sur la garde).
Ce manuscrit a appartenu à la famille Hurault, dont on peut lire l'ancienne cote au milieu de la marge inférieure du 1er feuillet « 87 » (M.-P. Laffitte, "Une acquisition de la Bibliothèque du roi au XVIIe s.: les manuscrits de la famille Hurault", Bulletin du Bibliophile, 2008/1, p. 42-98). Le manuscrit porte le numéro 55 dans l'inventaire réalisé par Nicolas Rigault en 1622 lors de l'entrée de la collection Hurault à la bibliothèque royale.
