Selon A. Dain (« Commerce et copie… » ), ce manuscrit aurait été copié pour Henri de De Mesmes, et bien qu’il soit écrit sur papier, il faut identifier ce manuscrit avec l’entrée du catalogue de Montfaucon (Bibli. Bilbl. II, 1326-1328) : 1327 D : Aeliani Tactica, in 4°, en velin (Jackson 109). Ce manuscrit aurait été prêté mais jamais rendu, ce qui expliquerait qu’il n’ait pas été transmis via la bibliothèque de Colbert.Le manuscrit est entré à la bibliothèque royale en 1732, comme en témoigne une note inscrite en haut du second feuillet de garde : Achepté en 1732 au mois de mars, payé deux louis d’or valant 48 livres. Cette même main ajoute au f. 77r la note suivante : ce volume grec a esté écrit par Angelo Vergetio / crete de nation του κρητου l’an 1564. / Vergece acommencé à écrire pour le roy François I. / avant l’année 1535. Et il est fait mention de / ce celebre ecrivain dans les Lettres du même François I. / pour la fondation du college royal. / voyre la vie de Pierre Chatelans publiée / par M. Baluze.L’entrée en 1732 se fait après la rédaction du grand catalogue de Nicolas Clément en 1682. Ce codex rejoint alors une série comportant déjà un exemplaire d’Elien cotés 3219 (Paris. gr. 2524), il prend logiquement la cote 3219,2.
